Good to know

Running (rated) watts are what the generator can supply continuously. Starting watts are a short burst for starting motors and compressors. Add up the running wattage of everything you plan to power at the same time and keep it below 3,800W. A portable generator is not designed to run an entire home.

Anyone who needs to power an entire home, central air conditioning or other heavy loads at once, or who needs to run power indoors or in an enclosed space.

  • Run it outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from windows and doors
  • Never run a generator in a garage, shed or any enclosed space, even with the door open
  • Let the engine cool before refueling, and store fuel in an approved container away from heat

Can I use it indoors?
No. Gas generators produce carbon monoxide and must only be used outdoors in open air, even with a CO alarm.

Does it have a CO alarm?
Yes. A CO alarm is an extra safeguard and never a reason to run a generator near the home.

Can I bring it on a plane?
No. Gas generators cannot be transported by air.
